I seem to be among the strange minority that did not like it. I won't leave it at a blah little comment though. Let me qualify.
I found the story to be a little soft and lacking in any really evocative character. Also, I found that with exception of the actors portraying Bones, Spock and Checkov, that nobody really bothered to try all that hard at their characters.
The set designs for the interiors of the Enterprise were so overdone and out of scale it looked like they had a hydro-electric dam and the Mall of America stuffed inside that hull that only holds 400+ crew.
The enemy was a very unimposing and almost lackluster at times and his delivery was nowhere near on par for a Star Trek arch villain.
Anyhow, I think it is still better than no Star Trek at all, though I'd love to see Captain Archer on the big screen.

I'm with you on the soft characters, I look at this in the same manner that I look at Stargate
the movie Vs the TV series...Two very different animals with their own story lines that
can be developed into something unique and separate....not necessarily a bad thing.
