Tribute To My Grandfather (Written Several Years Ago)

My grandfather was my maternal grandmother's second husband, and therefore
of no blood relation to me however, I knew no other grandfather growing up. Both
my biological grandfathers lived until I reached adulthood but, I saw them not often
because of the distance of where they lived.

to get to his uncle's fields by cutting through Poland! it even resulted in him getting
shot at by Polish boarder guards a few times. Because of where and when he grew
up he developed a great facility for language, he grew up speaking German, Polish,
Russian, Slovak, and later learned English and Japanese. He in early teens was an

his house had the old Imperial battle flag because his uncle Willy was convinced that
the Kaiser would return! So perhaps it was no shock that My grandfather would go

He became an American citizen in 1940 and after Pearl Harbor joined the US Army
and went to Training in Mississippi, where he also taught German to Officers
heading to Europe. He as A German was sent to the Pacific theater. His first stop
was for several months in Schofield BKS Hi, where he stayed in the same building
that I was assigned to many years later, I Quad. His tails of training there came
home to me many times as I marched over the same ground that he did many
years before me .

worked on and a naval officer asked him "Sergeant do you like what you see, my

fire a 50 cal Machine -gun he replied "Yes sir , on the ground" the officer said it
shouldn't mater...The next thing he knew he was in the right bubble manning the
50 cal flying out over the islands in a PBY. He didn't go too much into detail about
that other than saying he gunned allot of tomato gardens, later learned that was
slang for any Japanese installation. The next stories he told me involved running into
various islanders that were fluent in German! In the first story he is walking along
this recently occupied island and hears someone singing "Watch On The Rhine"
a very patriotic German song being done in flawless German, he walks up and
finds this little old man cutting vegetables who as it turned out used to work in the
German governors mansion. In the next story he and another German American
GI are at this elaborate ceremony where the chief is in the full black top hat and
tails but spats and no shoes. My grandfather speaking in German to his friend
said you think they could have got him some shoes...Then thinking nothing about
it is approached by the same Chief who proceeds in perfect German to apologias
for his lack of proper attire etc...My grandfather said he felt about 2 inches tall at
that point, lol.

WWI - French Assault of German Trench system - Nivelle Offensive 1917
The battle played out over two nights. First night, late start as the French\Germans had to do planning before we could truly begin. We played two hours after that and got in all the preliminary bombardment (3 days) and 3 turns. We then finished (or nearly finished) on the second night and got through 5 more turns. This is a long battle report and I hope you make it the end!

Mecha Monday : More Stompy-Bot Goodness
Been sorting out the basement playroom, and I came across a box I've had ages but don't play. So I did. GKR, Heavy Hitters, this was a kickstarter from Weta Workshop that just went crazy Set-up for two forces, green vs yellow Yellow's main mech Green's main mech The game is based in a corporate-world mech violence mixed with advertising/tv. So the goal is to 'tag' buildings with Ads to gain sponsorship (extra perk cards), when the building is tagged enough it collapses. The winner either collapses four buildings or takes out the opponents main mech.

The best of the worst
The Hotchkiss H 35 and H 39 were actively used in May-June 1940, as they were some of the best French light tanks. As a result, more than a third of these vehicles were irreparably lost. Nevertheless, the Germans captured a wealth of trophies after the French campaign, including about 600 tanks of both types and the Hotchkiss factory itself. The Germans even had plans to continue H 39 production. This was the only French tank they seriously considered keeping in production.

The AS21 Redback is a South Korean modern export Infantry Fighting Vehicle prototype, designed specifically for Australia’s LAND 400 phase 3 program, also known as the Mounted Close Combat Capability. The idea being to replace the aging M113AS4 armored personnel carriers in Australian service for 450 modern, well protected infantry fighting vehicles and 17 maneuver support vehicles.

The first Pacific Rim film was written and directed by Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro and starred Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, and Charlie Hunnam.
Pacific Rim: Uprising followed five years later in 2018, directed by Steven S. DeKnight and starring John Boyega, Charlie Day, Cailee Spaeny, and Scott Eastwood. Both films tell stories of pilots who operate gigantic robot suits called Jaegers. The Jaegers were created to fight the alien Kaiju, who rose from the seas with the intention of destroying all life.

This 21-minute short film, Prelude to Axanar, premiered Saturday, July 26th, 2014, at San Diego Comic-Con, and features Richard Hatch, Tony Todd, Kate Vernon, JG Hertzler, and Gary Graham -- Gary reprises his role of Soval from "Enterprise." The makeup and hair was designed by Academy Award winner Kevin Haney and Star Trek veteran Brad Look of Makeup Effects Lab in Hollywood. Mecha Monday: Dream Pod 9, Inc. Update
Updated Plastic Sprue Photos added to the DP9 Online Store!
A few customers have asked if the our Northern, Southern, CEF, and Caprice plastic miniature army boxes still used the same black colored plastic from the initial Kickstarter release. This was because the parts photos on the DP9 Online Store still showed the black plastic sprues, which were hard to see the details before the robots were assembled and primed. Since the original release we have restocked the plastic sprues twice, both times using a grey colored plastic, so that the details can be easily seen. We forgot to update the parts photos, until reminded. The DP9 Online Store has now been updated with new parts photos of the grey plastic sprues, which are also attached with this post for everyone to checkout.
