Mecha Monday: EP 2 BOWMAN | OBSOLETE

  1. Disregarding episode 12, which seems to be an attempt to troll the audience, episode 2 is arguably the weakest story in the series. The reason I say this, and I should add I enjoyed all the other episodes, is that the tactics of the insurgents and the response of the US Marines is plain stupid.

Imagine the rebels were advancing in Toyota technical with RPGs and machine guns mounted what do you imagine the outcome would be?

Just because the rebels were mounted on mecha, mecha-technicals???, their tactics sucked. The tanks would've fired canister shot, and that would've been the end of the rebels who lacked any armour.

Now if the rebels had kept their approach stealthy, like the underwater guys, then this would've made for a much more plausible story. I only grumble because I'm a big mecha fan, and I want to see mecha used effectively, which is why I wrote the Gate Walker trilogy: Bad Dog, Strike Dog, and Ghost Dog.

My take on Starship Troopers crossed with Stargate SG1.

  2. Ashley having been a soldier for twenty plus years your assessment is spot on! I really need to read your Gate Walker trilogy: Bad Dog, Strike Dog, and Ghost Dog. I've heard good things from people who have.
